My brother Aaron, as Stage Manager for Katy Perry, was able to get Rachel and I along with Rachel's best friend Kirsten in to her concert when she came to Phoenix. We were able to come early and watch them setting up and practicing. One of the backup singers gave us a tour of the stage and backstage. We weren't able to meet Katy, but we did get to see her bus, what the inside of a bus for the singers looks like, and meet some of the band.
The concert was really fun. Aaron told us where to stand for the best view - front and center. She was within about 2 feet of us. At one point, she made the comment that we could all go out later and get Jello shots. Then she looked at Rachel and said, "Sorry, your Mom said none for you. We'll go get Shirley Temples." It was cute! We had a great time and will always remember this opportunity. It's great that my brother remembers us when he can.
